The UK Synaesthesia Association is currently seeking an editor to organise and publish a regular edition of the Association newsletter.   This is a voluntary position.

The duties would include:

  • Deciding the newsletter content
  • Commissioning people to write features
  • Producing copy from raw sources
  • Editing / proof reading / fact checking features
  • Sourcing images
  • Collating of letters and discussion
  • Liaising with a newsletter designer to produce the layout
  • Final proof reading before sign-off.

The skills required:

  • Working to deadlines and being assertive enough to chase people who don’t meet deadlines
  • An interest or knowledge of synaesthesia (but a lack of a science background would, if anything, be a help and not a hindrance!)
  • The ability to correct English spelling and grammar.
  • Regular use of the Internet.

The editor would be supported by committee members who will be able to provide ideas and practical help, if needed.

Attention to detail is vital as is an interest in the workings of the Association. It wouldn’t be essential to join the UKSA committee, but I’d suggest it would be useful to do so as it’s a good opportunity to learn about the latest news and get ideas for new features.
